Yeah I wholeheartedly agree with DarKev.
I work for a huge company in the group that sets the firmwide standards for PCs. We evaluate which vendor, model, specs of laptop/desktop gets approved for use, and our March laptop order from one particular vendor alone was about 2200 units.
Now there have been many times when a vendor realizes there's a potential problem with a product we've purchased, and it's always the vendor's responsibility to rectify that situation. Our procurement folks negotiate contracts that make sure our vendors support their products in cases like that.
Which is what I don't get about this situation with Vonage. There's no way Vonage doesn't have a similar contract with Linksys. In a case where there is clearly a defect affecting a large number of customers, Vonage really shouldn't be on the hook as much as Linksys. Although Vonage is the unfortunate middleman in that kind of a scenario.
But even beyond that, I hope Vonage is telling Linksys to figure out the problem, figure out which units are potentially affected, pull any of those units from stock, and then maybe even proactively replace any units that Vonage has already shipped to customers. With the kind of order volume that Vonage must be doing with Linksys, they've got to have enough pull to get most of that done.
