Vonage When I first setup Vonage a week ago I connected my PAP2 through a Belkin router

When I first setup Vonage a week ago I connected my PAP2 through a Belkin router I had laying around. Things have been working great for days, no problems. I am on Comcast Cable and during high traffic times my caller will mention that the calls are choppy, especially if I am doing something on the internet like connecting through VPN to my work computer. After reading on here about QoS I decided to put a WRT54G into the mix and get rid of the Belkin router.

So, tonight I connected the Cable Modem->Linksys WRT54G->PAP2. I didn't setup anything special on the Linksys Router, wanted to make sure it was stable OUT OF THE BOX before I started playing around. All I did was secure the network (tell me if the encryption is the culprite).

The phone was working fine for about an hour and then the cell rings and I notice it is because the PAP2 line is down. I check the lights on the cable modem and they are fine, the Linksys lights are still on, but the PAP2's Telephone Light is off (although the ethernet light and power are still lit). I try to surf the web and nothing, even though it says we are still connected on the modem and Router.

If I power cycle the PAP2 it doesn't register. I have to turn everything off and back on in sequence, Cable Modem, Router, PAP2. A few more hours go by and BOOM, the line goes down again. As far as I can tell, it HAS to be the Linksys Router because everything was working fine with the Belkin, VERY stable for 5-6 days.

Is there a setting that the router needs to tell PAP2 to keep the line on?
And why if the line goes, does the Ethernet to the Computer go too? Even though all the lights are still on...it has got to be something inside that router that is taking everything offline.

For now I have switched back to the Belkin, though I really want to get that Linksys in the mix for the sake of QoS. Eventually I would like to load a different firmware on it, but for now I want to stick with what comes loaded or what is from LInksys at least until I understand QoS better.

Any thoughts?
thanks in advance!

The WRT54G v5 is a piece of crap.
As paul248 said, the v5 WRT54G is a piece all right. You can't run the 3rd party firmware
I had a similar issue when I installed a Belkin 54g router. The phone RTP adapter
I have the PAP2 which DOES NOT have QOS on it so I don't think that would help. I
Until Linksys crippled it, the WRT54G was probablly the best inexpensive wireless
Serisoully though all these linksys's are toys compared to the real thing. If
Thanks for the responses. I took the WRT54G back and got the WRT54GS, in the end
