What is a clec? There is no competition. The only "competition" comes from Midcontinent which is on the same pipe. There are only 687,000 people living in the entire state. Vonage serves one city. It is the largest city in SD, Sioux Falls....The others are very small towns which are suburbs of Sioux Falls, with the exception of New Castle, a town with a population of about 3,000 people, which Vonaqe for some reason, thinks is in South Dakota. Actually it is in Eastern Wyoming.
Rapid City, the city which I live close too, is the second largest city in South Dakota (68,000) and lies on the Western border. It would be called a town in Illlinois....the state from which I originally hail....Barrington is the name of the town I was born in....also I've lived on Cornelia and Seminary streets, up in Rogers Park and on South Port Ave. in Chicago. I'm quite familiar with the North Shore, I lived and worked there. Anyway back to Rapid City....It has the largest SAC (Strategic Air Command) base in the world, two universities a symphony orchestra etc. etc. Mount Rushmore is 20 miles away. It's pretty sad that Vonage doesn't serve us.
Oh, by the way, Fibercom was/is not a Sun Java host. It was/is a regular internet, cable television and telephone phone sevice provider....not video....It was founded in 96, so I stand by my remark. It was the first provider of its sort in the country. Fibercom was a division of Black Hills Corporation http://www.blackhillscorp.com/ a company which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under bkh. Also linked here http://www.blackhillscorp.com/brief.htm It is not some mom and pop outfit, in spite of were it's headquarters are located.
Anyway could you please explain what a clec is? I'd sure appreciate it.
