What Vonage device do you have? If it is really taking up all the bandwidth even when no one is using the phone, then you have a serious problem - my WRTP54G only sends out a quick ping every minute or so to the Vonage servers as a "keepalive" and the bandwidth it uses when I am not on the phone is so minimal as to be unnoticeable.

Since you have HyperWRT (I'm presuming it is the latest Thibor release, right?), download WallWatcher or some similar package and start watching the packets flow on the router. This will allow you to determine exactly when Vonage is using lots of bandwidth, and how much.

Also, you have your Vonage adapter BEHIND the WRT54G, right? Modem -> WRT54G -> Vonage device and web servers. ?

If you put the Vonage device between your WRT54G and your Internet modem, then the issues you are experiencing are probably more related to issues with the Vonage unit as a router than the bandwidth it is taking up.
