Well, first, count yourself lucky that you got an RTP300 instead of the VT1000. It's a better deal.
I'm not sure what setup B is, but the basic setup, assuming that your modem has ethernet output rather than USB, is to plug the RTP WAN port into the modem ethernet port, and your computer into any one of the 4 LAN ports on the RTP. If your modem has both ethernet and USB outputs, the USB output should _not_ be connected to anything. You should power up the system by first putting power on the modem. Wait one minute and then power up the RTP. Wait again and then power up the computer.
Now, do you have internet service on the computer? If so, you can get the upload and download speeds by going to the Vonage website. Click on "help" on the menu. The first FAQ question you'll see is "How do I check my upload speed?" or words to that effect. Click on that link and it will take you to a site where a test will be run on both your upload and download speeds. Clearly, if you get a phone light and your Vonage phone works, then your troubles are over- but please let us know. We like feedback.
If you don't have internet service when you've done what I indicated above, then remove the RTP and plug your computer directly into the modem. If you get internet service that way, run the speed test. Either way, get back to us and we'll go on from there.
