WRT54G is a good router - I have one of the older Linux based ones myself. There's nothing wrong with putting your V-Portal behind that unit and making it a "peer" to your PCs. Modem -> (WAN) WRT54G - WRT54G (LAN) -> V-Portal - WRT54G (LAN) -> PC (or PCs) Also, if by "WRT54G" you meant a Vonage WRTP54G, then that's OK too. If it worked for you before, it should work for you now. The QoS on the WRTP54G blows chunks, but other than that it's a half-decent consumer router, and is fully capable of port forwarding. :)
