Vonage Using Vonage with Zone Alarm can be a bit tricky. I have 2 NICS on my motherboard

Using Vonage with Zone Alarm can be a bit tricky. I have 2 NICS on my motherboard and this is what works for me:

1.) Cable Modem going into NIC #1 giving me a PUBLIC IP
2.) Vonage Terminal going into NIC #2 as a PRIVATE IP
3.) SHARE NIC #1's Internet Connection
4.) The Vonage Box on NIC #2 will pick up a PRIVATE IP from NIC #1.

Now here is what had me stumped for a few minutes:

The Vonage Box MUST be in the TRUSTED Zone on Zone Alarm.
I figure after I did that, it would work, since I was getting an IP and everything....but it didn't.

Then I had a stroke of genius and remembered that the Vonage Box is in the TRUSTED ZONE which begged the question:

How is this Vonage Box supposed to get out to the net when it is stuck in the Trusted Zone? Well....it can't.

You'll need to modify and/or create a rule in Zone Alarm in the INTERNET ZONE to allow the Private IP'd Vonage Box to get through. Now it works great.

P.S. - These instructions are for Windows XP although it MAY work on other MS OS's as well.
