Vonage Unfortunately, it looks like the PUC took an angle that forces people in Belize

Unfortunately, it looks like the PUC took an angle that forces people in Belize to yet again pay more for thier phone services unless they don't have a phone number. When you have a business in Belize you need to be able to have a US number to call that you have answered in Belize. By requiring a license to have an accessible number, and by forcing us to pay for a higher preimum service, the PUC has forced people to pay more again. The main reason is that they want to get the tax money and license money for the calls.

I was talking to PUC officials on the phone a few months ago about wireless licensing, and they said that if you had proof of acceptance (or something like that) for using a service from another country and they were ok with it being used in Belize, that Belize was ok with it. Now this doesn't necessarily seem to be true for Voip calls because it always comes down to money and bending the people over in Belize. Based upon that statement that was given to me, it would seem that if Vonage said that they were ok with their service being used in Belize, that Belize should be ok with it too. But now it looks like this is changed by this decision.

It also looks like the VPN solution is the only way to go to gain some level of control over your life again. With a VPN connection, your packets are encrypted, and also travel over a different port than Voip traffic while on the BTL network. This means that BTL will not have access to your data, and will have no control over your usage of the Internet. If they can't see your data, then they can't block your data. Beat them at their own game.... If you can't beat em (and everybody who lives in Belize knows you can't beat BTL), then join em and play the game right back. They deserve it. What about VPN blocking? Well, that would just be downright dastardly wouldn't it? VPN is a valid business usage of the internet for anybody requiring privacy of their data transmissions and should never come under the same blocking scrutiny of Voip.

I know this works because I have a Vonage softphone on my computer, and use a VPN client on my laptop to connect to work. When I am on the VPN my softphone works, and when I am not it does not work. The only thing is that I want to set up my regular adapter devices over a VPN link between my Belize connection and my US ISP using Linksys WRV54G Routers, but I have not set this sort of thing up before and need somebody with experience in this department to contact me at 727-742-1810 to walk me through it. I am a technical person as I am a software programmer and already have some basic understanding of what is going on here. I just need to see the settings working once and I will be good.

Anybody got what I need? And I am not going to give somebody I don't know $100 over the Internet for this information.
