Vonage To all on the forum, Greetings and Happy Holidays!, I realize Vonage is a young

To all on the forum, Greetings and Happy Holidays!, I realize Vonage is a young company and continues to expand their offerings. I became among the first of it's Arkansas customers last November when I realized the sheer savings and flexibilities of this service. I told my family "This will likely transform telephone service as we know it, and it's so COOL to be near the beginning!" When I moved the 75 miles from Little Rock to Russellville for new employment last December, that made me amongst the first to both keep my previous number moving it into another area code. :D/ Along with the migration of my number, which makes it a snap for family, friends, and brethren to dial me or my cellphone from Pulaski County with 7 digits, I didn't have to change my present 800 WATS, handled by MCI. It should be noted the line is unrestricted and works CONUS (Lower 48 states). You should also understand due to a sport I've participated in that I've had one of the first residential WATS in Arkansas, since 1987. The number is vanity at my request, and the last digits spell out the sport. Many committees of that sport around the country and some participants have dialed it to ascertain it's availability, and I won't rid myself of it! To my surprise, Vonage has indicated they do not have any means of transfer of an existing number to their service, although the FCC allows full number portability as long as service may continue to be rendered to the service area of the holder, per an 1995 ruling. As a result, Vonage is missing out on additional revenue from my WATS as I REFUSE to take on another number, despite the awesome savings and ease of billing. Until I am allowed to transfer my existing number, I must maintain it outside Vonage in order to keep it, or it will quickly be reissued to another. That's the painful reality. I invite anyone to reply, especially businesses or those rare residential WATS users as myself, for suggestions we may collectively use to pressure Vonage to carefully consider this request. Businesses in particular can realize great savings, but having to change business cards/stationery/websites/etc. is an unnecessary cost, especially when the FCC already allows portability as I mentioned earlier. 7X
