Vonage Those speeds sound kind of low even if you weren't trying VoIP. Have you discussed

Those speeds sound kind of low even if you weren't trying VoIP. Have you discussed the speeds with Sprint or has Sprint given you any determined rate for your DSL? One of the big arguments I have heard for DSL is that you do not share bandwidth, but that only applies to the copper between your house and the distribution point. Reebok is correct that you probably need to adjust your QOS. But you will possibly see some side affects. This problem would affect you no matter who provides the VoIP service. If you are in an area where you can get DSL you must also be near a cable service. Do you have cable? Do they have internet access for near the same price. You may want to inquire about their data rates. When you call Sprint be sure to ask for a manager. This problem doesn't sound like it will stop at a first tier conversation and someone higher up might be able to help. Just a suggestion, but I wouldn't discuss VoIP at first. I would purely discuss data rates. Its not that I would want to hide the VoIP, but I also wouldn't want to give them an out. The data rate is important regardless of whether I'm reading a news site, using an IM application, or using VoIP. I had Sprint local service in North Carolina and we had long discussions just on quality of dial-up. But, persistance paid off. I finally got the problem resolved. It was a problem in how they multiplex voice lines. Their first line of defense was, "We do not sell general lines for data dial-up service. You will have to pay extra for data service." Hang tough.
