This somewhat of a complicated story so I'd appreciate any help I can get.
I set up my Vonage line when I lived in USA, using Comcast as my ISP. I used the provided router as my primary one, and everything ran smooth.
Not to get into my life story, but I enlisted into the military and received orders to the UK. Vonage put my contract on hold while I went through training.
I brought my initial router to the UK once I got here. I have an ADSL line with BT, and needed an ADSL modem to coincide with that. So I picked up the Voyager 2110.
Now here's where I'm having issues. I'm using my cable modem I was originally issued, and routing it through my DSL modem. I can't seem to get a dial tone (even after trying every resetting combination possible and opening ports). The appropriate lights come on, and I can connect to the second router (cable one) if I want, the phone is the only part that wont work.
Not sure if this helps or not, but I had someone call the number I was assigned. They said it rang, and left a message. I was able to check that message online successfully.
Is it not possible to use a cable modem through a DSL modem? Is the problem something to do with being in the UK?
I'm sure there's another service that UK residents generally use that is separate from the USA service, however that would defeat the purpose of my US number I have, so friends and family can contact me while I'm stationed overseas.
