This is a joke, right? If not, I am totally unsympathetic to your expectation for Vonage or any other Voip provider to subsidize your desire to upgrade your home network infrastructure on an on demand basis. Vonage is a phone company, not a router company (like Linksys). Through rebates, etc, Vonage generally makes no money on the sale of the equipment needed to hook up new customers to its service. In fact, it probably loses money on new customer acquisition costs. It has little to no incentive or reason to subsidize new/upgraded equipment for existing customers unless there is an issue with the equipment that is causing a material support issue or inability/difficulty in using their service.

Furthermore, where should Vonage start and stop supporting the desire for on demand home network infrastructure upgrade? You want Vonage to replace 3 or 4 devices (a router that you presumably purchased yourself, a wireless access point that is integrated with the router, the switch that may be integrated with your router and your TA), all of which are apparently working just fine. You just want to upgrade this equipment to newer/faster equipment. What happens when the N version of wireless comes out or wired connections move enmasse to Gigabit? Should Vonage subsidize your desire to purchase this equipment?

To be clear, the only thing Vonage cares about and should be expected to care about as a internet phone company is a decent internet connection, a working cable modem and the TA. Frankly, while it cares about the internet connection and cable modem, these items are totally outside Vonage's ability to control. So, in reality, the only hardware that Vonage cares about and is in its control is the TA, and yours is working just fine. If you also want to run a home network, that network is your responsibility and cost.

Said another way, car manufacturers don't subsidize the purchase of new z-rated tires for the cars it sold. This doesn't make them uncaring or screwing their current customers. The same goes for Vonage.
