This has been by far the worst service I can accept from a VoIP service. I bought the LInksys router because of my need for 4 wired ethernet ports. So far I've been able to receive all incoming calls without any problems. But all outgoing calls are just plain messed up. Every time I make a call, on the other side people are able to hear me without any problem but I am unable to hear them at all! First, Vonage told me to upgrade Firmware 1.00.37 which I did. Second, they told me there was packet loss between my cable modem and the router. So I went out and got a Motorola Surfboard SB5120 (by Vonage's Recommendation). Well guess what, same issue is happening with the outbound calls (no incoming voice). Guess what Vonage recommends, DISABLE THE FIREWALL & NAT Feature in the router. That practically defeats the purpose of the router! He also told me to use Windows XP Firewall or any other software based firewall. Most software based firewalls are crap only good ones need to be purchased for full functionality. That is about $100 or more for 7 computers in my network. I told him that he should pay for it. I even requested to gimmie another solution with firewall enabled and he said that their network support recommends to disable it. He said that they use particularly 2 ports for making the link for outbound and inbound calls (port 5060 and 5061). So I told him gimmie access in the Voice tab so i can forward the ports to their service and he said they dont have access to begin with and I told him get me someone with that access and he told me he cannot redirect calls to another part of his telephone network. I mean come on how dumb can their own network admins be? Anyone have similar issues like this? Please do respond.
