This comes straight from PCWorld, they have microsofts recommendations in last months issue so I though I would post em here for you all.
Bare minimum specs:
800 Mhz or faster CPU
512MB of ram
directX 9 capable graphics processor
15GB of hard drive space
Above specs is if you use none of vista's bells and whisles such as the aero interface. Below is the recommended specs for running vista with all the bells and whistles, keep in mind that these specs are JUST to run the OS so anything extra like gaming will take more than what you see here.
1Ghz cpu or faster
1 Gb of ram
DirectX 9 compatible graphics card capable of supporting windows display driver module or WDDM for short and running 2.0 pixel shader and 32 bits per pixel.
Oh and the same 15 GB hard drive space I believe only if this OS takes 15 GB then a 150 GB hard drive sounds about right to me.

Hope this helps, I will try and post any changes from here on out but if there are any it will likely be only to say you need an even better machine than whats here and I expect soon enough thats what we will hear.
