There's a couple of holes I'd poke in this idea. These are completely up for debate, so don't take them as truths, per se - just words of caution to look out for:
1) My experience with apartment-provided services is that they are relatively unreliable. So, as long as you're willing to accept the fact that you might be completely without Vonage service for an entire weekend or with intermittent, random outages, then that's cool. Obviously, you mileage may vary. See what kind of SLA's they have. If they scratch their head when you mention SLA's, consider this a red flag. Odds are, they'll be calling "Geek Squad" when they have an outage, instead of staffing true techs (not to slight the folks at GS - I just want to make sure my ISP has dedicated staff that know the network).

2) Wireless - I'm assuming we're talking 802.11a/b/or g - is by nature a first-come-first-served medium. By this I mean, unless they have means to guarantee you a certain allocation of bandwidth, your experience will be entirely subject to whatever is happening on the network at that time. For example, if the guy next door is a P2P fiend and download/uploading tons of files all of the time, your voice packets will be contending for - and waiting in line behind - the rest of the traffic. This raises huge concerns for jitter and delay: the sworn enemies of Voip :)

Basically, what I'm trying to say is that Voip is very sensitive to delays and jitter. This is why QoS is so important. In the best case scenario, we would have end-to-end QoS and every Voip call would be of the best quality. But, this is not the case. So, we do the best we can to make sure that we have control over the sizing and timing of packets to make sure that voice is delivered within the strict tolerances it requires. This setup you're proposing blows a hole in any attempt at providing QoS.

So, to say it with out the dorkiness, I really suspect that you would not be happy with the quality of Voip in general - this is not something that is Vonage's fault - given the setup you described. There's just too many points of failure. But, take scerruti's suggestion and hit testmyvoip.com during peak hours and see if your get a good MOS score. Again, what I'm mentioning here is not to be taken as an absolute, but just a warning that without getting some sort of bandwidth guarantee (wish I could get a packet loss and delay guarantee, but oh well), I don't think you'll be happy with Voip.

Just my $0.02. Hope that helps.

Cheers,
CJC

configuring with an existing wifi network

I am moving to a new apartment which offers free wireless internet. Consequently,
You can use a wireless bridge to connect a Vonage adapter to your wireless Internet.
Wireless bridges can be expensive. If you can't find what you're looking for,
[font=Verdana:e095bc54e8] try using wet54g as your bridge and pap2 as your phone
The WET54G costs twice as much as the WRT54G, and it doesn't provide a built-in
