Vonage There are quite a few things I notice here right off the bat that need to be corrected.

There are quite a few things I notice here right off the bat that need to be corrected. First, your cable modem, the SB3100, is DOCSIS 1.0. Vonage requires a DOCSIS 1.1 modem and recommends a 2.0 for their service to work properly. DOCSIS 1.0 is infamous for not being able to handle a large amount of streaming traffic, such as a Vonage phone call. It can only handle so much traffic passing through it simultaneously before it basically becomes a bottleneck for your network, causing all sorts of problems for a Voip service. If I were you, the very first thing I would do is replace this modem with a DOCSIS 2.0. If you want to stay with a Motorola get a SB5100 or 5101.

Secondly, the huge variation in your test results between the first and second testing shows that there is a major problem with your connection or network. Now, this also could be stemming from the older modem, but just in case I would recommend doing the following to rule out the router as a partial cause. Power down the modem and a computer. Plug the computer directly into the cable modem and bring them both back up. Run the speed test a few more times. If the speed test results are still fluctuating then you know its not the router that is the cause of the issue.

Once you have replaced the modem, re-run all of your tests and verify that everything looks ok. If the results are still bad there could also be a problem with the signal strength from your cable provider to your modem. Make sure the cable modem is on the first splitter after the drop into your house and that nothing else is drawing off of the tap on that splitter. If it is, then time to contact your cable provider/ISP and have them troubleshoot your connection with you.

Finally, your cordless phone are 2.4Ghz and wireless routers also broadcast at 2.4Ghz so make sure that the base station for your cordless phone is sufficiently far away from the wireless router. Also, change the wireless channel on your router to 1 or 11 to decrease the chances of the two signals interfering. Also, this is not an issue with the service Vonage is providing you, it is an issue with your internet service provider so you should be "fed up" with them, not Vonage. If I were getting those kind of results with my ISP I would be on the phone with them in a second.
