Vonage The reason the LAN side of the WRTP54G is auto assigning itself 192.168.16.1 address

The reason the LAN side of the WRTP54G is auto assigning itself 192.168.16.1 address is only because you changed the leading router to 192.168.15.1. There was a bug discovered that if you daisy chained 2 Vonage devices which both have 192.168.15.0 networks, PC's connected behind the second router would not get internet because the default GW of 192.168.15.1 would not forward packets to the leading router. So the fix was put into the firmware to auto detect the network being assigned to it's WAN port and if the same subnet, it would auto increment to the next C class subnet of 192.168.16.0

If you used the Linksys default of 192.168.1.1 on the WRT54G, then you could assign a static IP of 192.168..1.x to the WRTP54G and the LAN IP of the WRTP54G would stay at 192.168.15.1. If you leave it as is and want to assign a static IP address to the WAN port of the WRTP54G, you will need to assign it an address of 192.168.15.x, subnet 2550.255.255.0, default GW of 192.168.15.1, and the DNS servers you find in the WRT54G obtained from ISP. On the LAN side, the WRTP54G will still auto assign itself an IP of 192.168.16.1 so that the LAN and WAN are on different subnets.

Now for actual issue. If the actual internet is still being dropped during an active call session, then sorry to say, but it is your modem, not the WRTP54G. If your modem is having issues supporting the stream of RTP packets, it needs to be replaced. If you are sure that when you notice the audio drops off, the internet is gone as well, this can't be the Vonage adapter. Since your PC's are connected through the WRT54G now, the internet is passed from modem to WRT54G to PC. If at that same moment in time the audio disappears, you can't browse internet or ping, you have identified the issue to be the modem. By replacing the WRTP54G, any Vonage adapter you get still have to stream RTP packets for audio so the modem may continue to act up. Even in your first post, you believe the internet was dropping off possibly even without the phone being in use.

Merry Christmas
