The highest quality for Vonage is using the 90Kbps codec. So you may want to set your Firewall QOS to have committed rate of at least 100Kbps for upstream and downstream. I'm using a Cisco PIX 501 firewall and have the ATA 186 plugged into the Firewall's switch at 10Mbps Full Duplex. Vonage uses SIP TCP and UDP at 5061 which is rather odd because the default SIP port is 5060. I have SIP TCP 5060 on Fixup and SIP UDP 5060 - 5062 open for outbound traffic. I use the default PIX 6.3 UDP authentication for incoming traffic and Port translation for security. Vonage is a SIP based VOIP system and you will need to open the following ports: UDP 5060 - 5062 (5061 on Cisco ATA 186) UDP 10000 - 20000 for the actual data traffic and signalling. Currently, IP phone is not supported by Vonage and the softphone that works is the one that Vonage is currently selling. Vonage is actually using a non-standard ports for their SIP implementation. You can segregate the traffic by placing it on the DMZ or on its own subnet as long you allow those ports and prioritize them among other traffic on your network. In term of the soft phone number, I have not played with them enough to provide any answer at this time. Oz
