The default setting for the RTP300 is for DHCP to be enabled. Assuming your computer is set up to get its address dynamically, just plug it into an ethernet port on the RTP300 and log on to the administration page of the RTP300. Rather than turning off DHCP on the RTP300, just change the address of its subnet from the default, 192.168.15.x if I remember correctly, to something like 192.168.18.x. The default logon is also the same as for your WRT. However, I should have asked you whether you're using a 2.4 GHz cordless phone. If you are, interference between your phone and your wireless router could cause the symptoms you're having. If that's the situation, try things with a corded phone before worrying over router settings.
