The VTA was never configured for static IP with the Linksys, it was using DHCP and working fine. I did not have to open any ports or anything. It just worked!
The VTA is definately using DHCP with the Netgear WGR614, it's IP is 192.168.1.4. I have accessed the VTA homepage from my PC which is also connected to the same Netgear router and in the "attached devices" section of the routers home page at 192.168.1.1 it shows the VTA's IP as 192.168.1.4. I have pinged the VTA too from my PC at this address.
So it does get an IP, and provisioned, as the power light is solid, and the internet light is solid green too, flickers sometimes, probably trying to register the lines I presume.
The PAP2 works fine with the Netgear WRG614, I did not have to open any ports, DMZ or anything else. It just worked!
Don't know why the VTA is not working with the Netgear, I just connected it back to the Linksys wired router and its working. Connected it to Netgear and I get the same 2 flashig lines.
