The Linksys WRT54GL is a very popular router on this forum. To get the most out of this router a lot of users, including myself, load aftermarket or third party (Tomato or DD-WRT) firmware on the router to take advantage of its advanced features. I personally use Tomato firmware on my WRT54GL and my wireless connections for my laptops are rock solid. You will not find this router in any of the big box stores but you can purchase it online. If you decide to purchase the WRT54GL, if you want to you can use your WRTP54G solely as a phone adapter. Just remember to disable DHCP and disable the wireless feature on the WRTP54G and allow the WRT54GL to be your primary router and all should be good.
