That's a common problem with the RTP300 and WRTP54G. The instructions really should include the following:
1. From a computer or router connected directly to your Internet connection, determine the DNS servers for your connection. In Windows, you would go to a command line and enter IPCONFIG /ALL and look for "DNS Servers". There are generally two IP addresses.
2. Go into the basic setup screen on the RTP300/WRTP54G, and enter the addresses you found under DNS1: and DNS2:, and set the DNS Proxy to DISABLE.
Once you do this, DNS will work on your network again, and it will also take some load off the router.
Note: If you cannot find your DNS servers, there are public ones for your use. Anything in the range of 4.2.2.1 to 4.2.2.6 are useable DNS servers, though they may not be as fast as your local DNS servers that your ISP provides.
