ToddlerTN, as you suggested, I pulled up a command prompt and using the ipconfig command, received the info regarding my ip which I have edited for public display
IP Address ###.###.##.###
Subnet Mask ###.###.###.#
Default Gateway ###.###.##.#
I also opened the status window of my NIC connection (Intel Pro/100 VE) in network connections and under the XP support tab, the EXACT IP address was listed.
I also started the Diablo 2 game and it lists the IP address that it is currently using to host IP based multiplayer games and again, the EXACT IP address was listed.
Under these three reference points, the IP address is EXACTLY the same.
This is the very IP address that I put in and later removed from my Static settings and DMZ settings for the Linksys Modem.
I am aware that I "dont understand what I am doing" in this case, and I have not taken offence to the remark from you. Also, I am also thankful for your assistance and that of others here.
But, I do understand the concept of a static vs changing IP address and it seems that all I have access to is the one from Comcast that does change from time to time.
If there is another location that I can determine my "internal IP" I would like to know because I agree, that number would solve the problem.
Also, in the computer is a 1934 Net adapter and a Intel Pro/100 VE Network connection card which the Linksys is currently plugged into.
