Sporter, to answer your question, yes, you need to make some tweaks in the configuration in order to make it work.
Several issues are at play. 1. have you tested your connection to see if your broadband connection can handle more than one phone line at a time? (i.e. go to testyourvoip.com and test it).
2. Have you disabled the router functions of your rt31p2? (i.e. disable DHCP, etc).
3. Does your BEFW11S4 support QoS? If not, then having two phone connections will most likely cause quality issues b/c your phone data will not get priority through your connection.
4. When you connect the rt31p2 to your BEF router how is it connected? Is it connected to the rt31p2's "internet" connection or it's "ethernet" connection? It makes a difference. Do a search on this forum to see some possible configurations.
5. What is your upload speed? Also, do you use the internet while on the phone? Remember, each phone connection will take up 90kbps so if you have 128 kbps upload speeds, then it cannot handle more than 1 phone line at any one time since 90 x 2 = 180 kbps which is already greater than 128 kbps.
