Sounds like something is wrong in your QoS settings.

1. How much upload bandwidth do you have?

- You could just have enough to support Vonage, so the router is (intelligently) clamping down everyone else and respecting your QoS request.
- You can test for this by using the "Bandwidth Saver" and see if it fixes the problem. If it does, then you just have BARELY enough bandwidth to support the full quality Vonage and you have a decision to make - voice quality or simultaneous Internet?

2. How much does your WRT54G *think* you have (what is set in the "upstream bandwidth" field)?

- If you have this set to AUTO, turn that off and set it to about 90% of the actual upstream (based on testing) that you have available. Otherwise, QoS may be flakey, since QoS based on incorrect upload speeds = bad QoS.
- What your ISP tells you it SHOULD be isn't worth squat. Test it using www.dslreports.com/tools and the speed tests here. Do REPEATED tests, at different times of day, and use the lowest number you get on a dedicated connection, minus 10%, for QoS. Experiment from there.

3. Do you have any drops in quality or reports of drops in quality on the other side?

- Again, this would be an indicator of insufficient bandwidth. It could be that the router is giving you 100% of your connection for Voip, and it still isn't quite enough.

4. What version of firmware are you running in your WRT54G? Maybe there's a problem there. HyperWRT Tofu 10 works VERY well for me, but there are lots of excellent third party firmwares (as long as your WRT54G is NOT a V5).
