Sorry, Grunthos ... I meant "my router" by my Linksys, not VT1005.

Little Update: I re-discovered one post I've been trying to find for a quite a while... because it mentions this link, which got me starting thinking about ports on my Linksys and VT1005:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,8644566~mode=flat

And followed you guy's advice plus that info mentioned on this link. With my original configuration (cable modem - VT1005 - Linksys - PC)... man oh man, not only port 23 (telnet) was visible, but almost everything else wasn't "stealth" (for non-techies, it means "invisible"), but just "closed" (again for non-techies, it means "I'm here, but not available")!!

So, that was enough motivation for me to switch around. After putting VT behind the firewall (Linksys), and forwarded port 113 (which was only "closed" port still showing while everything else became "stealth") and now everything showed "stealth" and that made me happy. And you're right, maniac... I didn't notice any change in voice quality, either.

Now I was thinking... perhaps Vonage left port 23 open so they can "push" the new firmware??? Maybe with that closed, I'm not getting any updates??? What do you all think?

Also the beauty of daisychaining those two was, I could check both of them without changing the wiring to my laptop... so checking the status of both are real breeze. Now, I kinda miss it because whenever I had to check VT, I had to plug my laptop into it. :(

So, I've been trying to put them on the same network after I put VT behind the firewall (no daisy-chain)... but Linksys being 192.168.1.1 (last two octets (for non-techies, it's the number between dots) are chagable) and VT with 192.168.102.1 (none of those octets are changable) ... it's not really helping. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,

-K
