Vonage So...I used to be with SBC Ameritech back in 2003. I transferred my phone number

So...I used to be with SBC Ameritech back in 2003. I transferred my phone number over to Vonage and everything has been working fine for the past 4 years. This weekend my customers start e-mailing me stating that my number isn't working. After going round and round with Vonage support they tell me that my number was never transferred and that I would have to call SBC Ameritech to get them to release the number. So I call SBC Ameritech, which is now ATT and they tell me that Vonage would have to call them to fix it AND they can't tell me who if anyone owns it due to privacy issues. This is a NIGHTMARE. I have advertising and other collateral with my phone #'s on it and have spent a ton of money...now there is a change I might lose this number?
