"Since your DSL is currently on house wiring line 1 (almost certainly), you start by changing that. First you need to figure out which jack in the NID is the active DSL. Just pull both plugs, and plug an ordinary phone into first one jack and then the other. Figure out which one is "live". This is you DSL jack. Now you need to get that connected to house wiring line 2. You can do this by re-wiring the plug that used to plug into that jack so that it now serves line 2 instead of line 1. You may also be able to do this by simply plugging the plug that used to go to the other jack into the DSL jack. Either way, when you're done, one jack in the NID should have a plug in it and the other should be empty. One plug should be hanging loose. Insulate it with a bit of electrical tape. Now your DSL is on house line 2."

Ok, I tried plugging in my phone into line one and line 2 on the NID and sure enough, as you said, line 1 had a constant beep sound-not a dial tone- and line 2 did not make a sound so I assume the DSL line would be line 1. I have a few questions

I should remove the cable going into line 1 and plug it into line 2 on the NID?

Where do I get that l1/l2 splitter? I don't want to buy it online and I doon't think lowe's or home depot near me have them. Or kmart or sears
