Since they are not a public company, they are not required to disclose their full numbers, but like any start-up that is building a customer base, they are probably focusing on building that customer base (and therefore sustaining revenues) and losing startup money in the process.

This is pretty typical of a startup, and is also why investing in them is such a high risk. The "dot com" bubble showed us both the risk and rewards of startups, primarily because there were so many prominent startups at the time. But this sort of "startup risk" has been going on since companies were publically traded, and even before with collective funding.

So, if you invest in Vonage, you may be investing in the next Yahoo! or Google, or the next pets.com. Who knows?

Vonage is, as someone around here said, the "AOL of VoIP". They are the biggest company that sells it as a "geek free" service, and like AOL in the early days, that's true as long as you don't run into any problems.

Maybe their name and network will be bought out by a company that is good at sustaining business models, like many successful startups.
