Vonage QoS is only necessary if you have a problem without it. If you start doing large
QoS is only necessary if you have a problem without it. If you start doing large uploads or something and the other end starts griping about choppy or poor audio, then you'll need a router that has QoS. Don't waste the money if you don't need it.
As to accessing the RTP300, you can do it one of two ways:
1. If and when you ever need to log into it, which probably won't be often, just plug a computer into it and log in.
2. Set the RTP300 up for remote access (plug a computer into it, log into it, and under "Administration", turn on the "Remote Router Access". Then you can plug your computer back into the regular router and when you want to access the RTP300 type http:// vonageip :8080 into a web browser, where vonageip is the ip address that the main router assigns to your RTP300.
With the number of times you'll likely have to actually log into your RTP300, I'd just go with option #1. I have mine set up for remote access on my LAN, but only because I'm constantly logging into it to check what something is labeled to help out here, and whatnot. For the most part, once you get the RTP300 up as a Vonage adapter only, you won't need to do anything with it any more.
