A1) You can buy the Vonage box in any name you want, as long as you pay for it with a US credit card.
Q2 ) Once I have setup the Vonage adaptor there, I intend to buy 2 Nokia E62 cell phones , one for my family and 1 for myself for Voip calling when I visit here..Is this workable?
A2) Cell phone <> Voip. Vonage will provide you with an adapter that you can plug into any wired Ethernet connection that has open Internet access, and any standard ANALOG telephone. Vonage does not provide cellular service.
If you are referring to the E62's Voip capabilities, Vonage requires that you use one of their devices. They do not support the E62 that I am aware of. You can get one Vonage device for either Bombay or the US, then add on a Vonage SoftPhone line that should be compatible with your E62's Voip capability, I suppose.
Q3) Do I have to compulsorily use Vonage plans or I can buy a pre-paid sim card like T-Mobile , Cingular(AT&T) on my E62 and use it here everytime I visit for 3 months or so?
I'm a tad confused by this question, sorry.
Vonage, for $15 or $25 a month, will provide you with an adapter that gives you a US-based telephone number.
You can plug that adapter into your Internet connection in Bombay, and you will have a US telephone number that rings in Bombay when you call it. You can call that phone from a US-based cell phone and only incur whatever charges you would incur from calling ANY US-based number. You can also purchase two Vonage lines, one to leave in Bombay and one to have in the US, and they can each call the other, or any other US phone number.
