Vonage Our routers don't seem to cooperate together. We have tried many combinations

Our routers don't seem to cooperate together. We have tried many combinations of unistall & reinstalling of hardware, software, firewalls, cordless phones.. have had many difficult tech support calls (and still no fix). It seems to come down to the two routers. But this is all new to us! Any advice would be helpful, we're one step away from returning some of this stuff.

2. Cox Communications high speed Interent (cable)
3. Download 4,009,552 bps Upload 508,192 bps
4. Motorola SB5120 Surfboard
5. Vonage Linksys wired router
6. Setup of Network - modem >>> wireless Netgear router WGR614 >>> Vonage wired Linksys router>>>>PC

7. Downstairs wired computer hooked up to Netgear wireless router and Vonage Linksys. We bought Vonage first, not needing a wireless router, we went with the wired one. Then bought son a new computer and hooked up Netgear Wireless Router and adapter. Upstairs computer working fine with wireless connection. Downstairs Wired computer hooked up to both routers seems to lose internet connection in big drops. Cannot run java appelet games (, XM Radio (Online version), applications like Real Player, Windows Media Player. Trouble with basic pages like eBay not loading and "page cannot be found". Sometimes a phone call kills all internet activity. I am more concerned with the prior things mentioned, however they might be related. I am up and running if I use one router (either wireless or Vonage) but cannot get everything working together. In fact I had to disconnect the wireless router, just to run the test call to Boston and the Voip speed test. I could not get these results for this post, otherwise. When both routers are in use, I get "brainlock" mode. How can I get the two routers working together?

First reaction: DON'T try to make them "work together". Two routers = two networks.
