The hardware is setup is: cable modem -> Vonage linksys rt31p2 -> netgear wireless router.
The linksys box is in need of replacement, and I was somewhat disappointed to hear from Vonage tech support that my router was already out of warranty. The manufacturer offers a 1 yr warranty, but evidenly Vonage won't back that up.
I've gone through as much debugging as possible, and have determined that it is indeed the Vonage linksys box which is the culprit. Pulling the linksys box out of the mix provides great service & performance with the wireless setup.
We lose dialtone & the phone light on the router, and the wireless setup for our home PCs gets knocked down at least once per day, and it seems to get getting worse every day. Yesterday I had to reset the linksys & wireless boxes 4 times.
Woke up this morning to no dialtone again. Calling tech support routed me (I believe) to India, and the tech support gal was less than useful. She walked me thru a scripted debugging session, and when I finally got her to understand that my router needs to be replaced, she suggested 2 linksys models from a retailer. This was when I found out that Vonage won't honor the manufacturers warranty on the hardware.
Sure - the original router was 'free', but I'd sure like to see them stand behind the hardware.
Just had to vent a bit. I'm off to a big box retailer to get a new router now.

• That's odd. They did a warranty exchange for mine this past August. It was 9 months
