One thing we'd really like to see is the detailed set of results from the forum VoIP/speed test. Look under the forum speed dial dropdown menu. Not only will that give us a measure of your connection quality, but it will also indicate, by either running or not, whether anything is preventiing operation of Voip.

The real clue here is that neither your phone nor your internet is working with the VT1000 in place. That tells you that you haven't yet got the right combination in place to let the VT1000 connect with your DSL. One thing I always point out at this point is that your ISP should be willing to help you with this. It's a router setup issue, not a Vonage specific issue, and they should be willing to help with that.

Assuming that they aren't, the real clue to how you need to proceed is in the setup that was on your computer before you changed anything. Presumably, you had internet service at that time with the computer plugged directly into the modem. What you need to do is to set the WAN side of your VT1000 up just like that, so it can do what your computer used to do. Then you set up both the VT1000 LAN side and the computer so that they are compatible with one another. Usually that means enabling the VT as a DHCP server and setting up the computer to get its IP automatically. I believe you've already done that part, since your computer is able to communicate with the VT.

One thing to keep in mind is that some services are sensitive to MAC numbers, and so are some modems. If either the service or the modem is looking for the computer's MAC and is unwilling to work with anything else, you may have to address that issue. With modems, sometimes just turning them off for an hour or so will make them "forget" a preferred MAC and become willing to work with a new one.
