One more dumb thing - calling 933 tells me, "911 dialing is currently enabled for this phone."
The robot then tells me to check the Features section of the Vonage website. If you check the Features sectoin while signed in to your Vonage account, it says:
"911 Dialing is NOT automatic. You must activate 911 Dialing for each number on your account. To activate 911 Dialing or Edit your 911 Dialing Address, click one of the links below."
I have activated it - several times, as a matter of fact. I've had Vonage service for two years now. Every time I read a post here about Vonage users who had their 911 service become inactive somehow (don't know if that's true, or if they just get fooled by that same remark on the Features page), I go and check my own. Occasionally I get just a bit nervous that maybe it DID somehow become inactive, and I reactivate it.
Why doesn't that message ever change? Shouldn't it show your 911 activation status right there? Truly poor implementation!
This is especially true when I receive a mailing from Vonage instructing me that I must activate 911 service on my Vonage account.
Vonage continually sends out these letters as "legal insurance", and customers are left to wonder if their activation worked.
Has to be a better way!
