Okay, here goes:

For you, maybe V makes sense. You may need the international calling and fax machine support. I don't because I get those elsewhere.

For international calls (very few by the way), I pay V or I use Skype.

For inbound faxes I use my business toll-free number that includes fax capability, Kall8. I dislike stacks and file folders full of paper, so I want a pdf file instead and that's what they do for me, sent to my gmail inbox. Kall8.com, check them out.

For outbound faxes - rarer and rarer these days - I pay fax1.com 12¢ per page with no monthly base fee. They have kind of a kludgy web interface but so what. I used to use efax, but they charged money each month even if I sent/received no faxes.

I don't need a sexy new router. As long as the older ones from Voipo work out of the box, I'm fine with that.

If Voipo hasn't locked their routers down and allows upgrades to the firmware, then that would be a bonus. V has locked down the Cisco/Linksys RT31P2 routers so that we are stuck with firmware 1.30.01 from 2006. Firmware version 1.30.07 exists, but V either can't or won't let me upgrade so I can protect myself. Nobody from V customer service has ever offered to ship me a new router or at least the same model with upgraded firmware. Another example of V's shortsighted and disrespectful treatment of long-time loyal customers. I really don't like being taken for a sucker or being taken for granted.

Scottsman, you seem to want all of your phone/fax stuff from one provider, which is fine if that's what works best for you.

Over time, I've found I end up paying more for a bundled plan than if I'm willing to break out the features and shop for the best provider for each one. Bundled plans may have most of what I need, but I almost always discover that they lack features/settings that prove to be indispensable.

For someone like me, I'll take the $8.25/month for Voipo over the $23.71 for V any day. Yes Scottsman, I get what I pay for. That suits me fine because I know what I need and want and I don't have to pay anyone anything extra.
