Now go to page 24 (page 3-2) on your PDF reference manual and the heading should be "Logging Into Your Router"
Now, here is what I would like you to do. I am going to be thorough so if you have already done the step, skip it.
1. Plug in the power adapter that came with it to your netgear router.
2. Now take the ethernet cable and connect it to port 1 on your netgear router and the other end of the cable to your desktop computer. This will require you to disconnect your desktop from the rt31p2.
Make sure that only your desktop is connected to the netgear and that the netgear is not connected to anything else.
Okay, now I will refer to page 24 (3-2)
It says under step 1, to type into Internet Explorer the following address:
http://www.routerlogin.net
Then you should be prompted to enter a username and password. Use the following:
username: admin
password: password
make sure both are in lower case.
Now you should see the Netgear smart wizard and the Basic Settings.
If you look at the 3rd section, it says Internet IP Address
Here you will want to select "Use Static IP Address"
And type in the following:
IP Address: use 192.168.15.250
IP Subnet Mask: keep the same
Gateway IP Address: use 192.168.15.1
Now hit the Apply button at the bottom.
