Vonage Okay, I've had vonage for a long long time, and never had a problem with it. Then

Okay, I've had Vonage for a long long time, and never had a problem with it. Then recently, I started having some odd things happen occasionally. At first, there was like a delay in when I would speak and the person on the other end would hear me, like maybe 3 seconds later. Then occasionally when I'd make a call nothing would happen, but if I'd hang up and try again it would work. Now that problem happens every time. I haven't been able to make a call in 3 days. I still get incoming calls just fine. When I pick up the phone to make a call, I get a dialtone, but after dialing the number nothing happens- just dead air. The person I call does get the call, but when they answer they hear nothing. I never even hear a ring on my end, or anyone talking when they answer.

My setup has not changed since first getting Vonage, but this is how it is setup: I have a Cable Modem (toshiba) which goes into a Linksys wireless & 4 port router (model: BEFW11S4 ver 2). From there, I have my primary computer hardwired in port 1, and then in port 2 I have the Vonage modem (Motorola VT1005V). From the phone modem, there is a line splitter connected in Line 1, with 1 end going to my cordless phone, and the other into my DirecTIVO. I also have a second computer connected via a wireless USB adapter.

My internet is working fine on both computers. As I said, when I pick up the phone I get a dial tone, and incoming calls are still coming through okay, so I'm not sure what is going on. My setup has not changed.

Things I have already tried: First I did a full reset of everything, shut down both computers, unplugged the power from both modems and the router, waited a minute, then plugged in the cable modem, the router, and phone modem, then turned both computers back on. Waited a minute for everything to reconnect, checked, and same problem. Did this whole reset again 3 times. Same thing. Tried just resetting router with its reset button. Same thing. Turned everything off again & unplugged, then disconnected all ethernet cables and phone connections, then reconnected and plugged back in, and powered everything back up. Same thing. Took off the phone splitter and plugged the phone cord directly into the line 1. Same thing. Switched the ports for the router (put comp into 2, phone into 1) Same thing (internet still worked in the 2nd port just fine). Put them back where they were, same thing. Tried another phone cord, same thing. Reconnected splitter and phone cord as was originally. Went and bought a new phone. Same problem.

I'm at a loss of what to do next. The power light on the modem is steady. The green and orange light on the back where the ethernet cable goes in are lit up and steady. All my cable modem and router lights are as should be. I've tried resetting the router several times over the last few days to no avail. When I call customer support from cell phone, they tell me "if you're not getting a dial tone, reset your router." When I tell them that I AM getting a dial tone, and I AM getting incoming calls, they repeat themself. I have called 5 times and am getting 0 help. Just repeating irrelevant information. I go ahead and reset anyway, but it doesnt fix my problem.

Could it be the phone modem has just gone out? Its confusing me since I get the dial tone and incoming calls, so I'm not sure. I don't want to buy more stuff if thats not the problem, I already spent 30 bucks on a new phone thinking that was it. Oh, and I ran the speed test thing and it seems to be okay, saying I can support 11 Voip connections.

Obviously my cable modem is okay, since I'm online atm, and same for my router which both ports checked out okay, and again I have internet, and I know the connection is okay because I have the dial tone and incoming calls.

I know this is all a lot to take in, but please someone help me out before I pull out all of my hair in frustration, lol.

Thank you so much!
Kat

-Edit: I managed to fix the problem. I hooked up the primary computer to the PC line on the back of the phone modem to access the modems gui, and then just went to basic and clicked save changes (no changes were actually made), and it said it would have to reset it, I clicked okay, when it was done, I waited for the modem light to become steady again, then put my primary PC back into the router port 1 as it was originally. When I picked up the phone, dial tone was there, and I can now make calls again. Not sure how this helped exactly, but apparently power cycling the modem does not fully reset it as its owner manual states. That's all I can figure, anyway. Thanks again.
