Okay, I should know better, but I always second guess myself.

Before Vonage, our LAN is set up with DirecWay over at Landlords house, he has a Netgear Cable/DSL Router, set as DHCP server. He's run me a CAT5 cable to my house where I have a Linksys 5 port switch which feeds all the network ports in my house and one Buffalo Wireless Router with the routing options disabled (basically just serving me the wireless)

I have plugged the Vonage Router into one of the available ports on the switch. It got an IP address rather than keeping it's factory default. I have not configured ANYTHING on the Vonage router yet.

I forwarded the ports from the FAQ on my landlord's router, pointed them to the IP address that was assigned to the Vonage router.

Should I be plugging the cable from my switch into one of the 4 ethernet ports on the Vonage router, or the "Internet" port??? I have it in the Internet port right now and I can call out but not receive calls.

When I call out, I can only hear the person on the other end, they never receive my voice. I believe this has something to do with my upstream only being 56k over satellite. I was hoping that with the bandwidth controls set to 30k I could still use Vonage. I only need it for one thing - connecting my TiVo to its stupid server once a week.

Does anyone else agree that needing to buy a land line in order to use your TV is RIDICULOUS? I have been trying to avoid buying Bell service for two months. This is my last ditch effort. Any feedback or workarounds would be appreciated. Bell wants a minimum of $35/Month and $40 setup to provide me a line that TiVo will use once a week.
