Vonage Ok, so it took a little while to figure out but i have my phone adapter (VT8100)sharing

Ok, so it took a little while to figure out but i have my phone adapter (VT8100)sharing my Airport connection from my MacBook Pro. I intend to use this for business while I travel.

I will outline the steps below:

Setup the Router:

* These steps are for a VTech VT8100 adapter, but their should be similar options on all phone adapters sold by Vonage. Just look through your user guide for manual ISP Settings.

(Please be sure that no internet connection sharing is enabled on your MacBook)

Our first step is to set our router to connect properly to the shared network.

1. Connect your phone adapter's "Internet/Lan" Port to your laptop through the ethernet port.

2. Disable airport

3. Renew the DHCP license on your Ethernet Port

4. Open a web browser and connect to http://192.168.15.1

5. Login (Default is VTech:VTech)

6. Select "ISP Connection" from the menu at the left.

7.Select the "Static IP Address" option from the dynamic box.

8. Enter the following information:

IP Address: 192.168.2.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

ISP Gateway Address: 192.168.2.1
Primary DNS Address: 192.168.2.1

9. Select Apply

10. Log out and close your browser. this will complete the setup of your Phone Adapter.

11. Unplug your phone adapter from your Laptop.

Now it is time to setup your MacBook to share its port.

* These steps are for OSX 10.4 users, 10.2 users have additional steps to perfom, PM me if you need more help.

1. Re-Enable your airport

2. Open the system preferences panel

3. Select "Newtowrk"

4. Select "Built in Ethernet"

5. Make sure that the Ethernet is set to "DHCP" not any of the other options.

6. Click "Show All" to return to your System Preferences Panel

7. Select the "Sharing" icon.

8. Go to the firewall tab, if the button at the top says "stop" plesae click stop to disable the firewall.

9. Go to the internet tab and select "Airport" from the "Share your Connection From:" drop down box.

10. Check the "Built in Ethernet" check box from the list.

11. Click Start at the top of the window.

12. Connect your phone adapter to your laptop again, this time being sure to connect the cable to the "WAN" port of the phone adapter.

13. Allow your phone adapter up to one minute to connect, you should receive a green light when connection is complete.

14. Test Your phone, it should work.

15. (Optional) You may now enable your firewall, but be sure to open UDP Ports 53, 69, 80, 123, 5061, 10000-20000.

This should complete your setup.

*Note If your laptop goes to sleep, your phone goes off. I only recommend this setup for traveling and mobile purposes, other places, take the time to set up a hard wire or purchase a wireless bridge, Linksys builds a gaming model that retails in the area of $60 US.

Also note that if your phone adapter is unplugged, for a period of time, you may have to perform this setup operation again.

It is likely that you will need to use a crossover cable to connect your Mac Book

I forgot to mention that you must enable "Personal Websharing" in the Services
Sounds to be more geared to the OP than me, since I only have 1 ethernet port on the
