Ok Suzie, it sounds like you have a pretty basic setup. One computer, One Vonage device, one modem. Now what I can gather from your post is that Connecting your computer to the modem will allow you to access the internet. This means your internet service is up and running. Good.

Now I see a reference here to PPPoe so I am going to assume you have DSL in Mumbai. Your PC may already be setup to use it but your Vonage device most likely is not. Thats okay because it is easy to set up your Vonage device for that.

You need to first obtain your PPPoe username and password from your ISP in Mumbai, next you can login to your VT2142 by connecting your computer to the yellow port on the back. Give your computer a moment to sync up with the Device, then open an internet browser and navigate to http://192.168.15.1

Both the username and password will be "router"

Once logged in you can go to the BASIC menu, then WAN Setup, then enter your PPPoe info, connect the Vonage device to your modem through the blue port on the back, and click apply. Reboot everything after that and you should be all setup. If anything you can consult your ISP's tech support or repost in this forum.
