However, you're correct about the flashing of the phone light when you're not using the phone. The light should be steady. Let's be sure that I understand though- it does this with just one phone plugged directly into the adapter, correct? But it's on steady with no phones plugged in?
If the light is steady with no phone plugged in, but flashes with one phone plugged in and on-hook, then you should try another phone. If that fixes it, you've got a problem with the phone that you've been using to test. If it still flashes with the phone on-hook, then I think it's time for a call to Vonage to see if the adapter has a problem.
Getting back to your house wiring, we know that you get a tone on the phone plugged right into your splitter, but not on the rest of the house phones. That suggests an open in the wiring to the plug that you're using for the adapter. If you can, try to plug the adapter into a different jack. However, I think the focus at this point should be in trying to understand the flashing light issue.
By the way, we are talking about the phone 1 light, not the internet data light, right? The internet data light is on the far right and flashes almost always.
