OK, different theory (sorry). You may have some form of misrouting, and not a lack of bandwidth.

There are a few things I want you to try:

1. If there are ANY ports forwarded, triggered, etc to your WRTP54G, take them out. You don't need to forward ANYTHING to the WRTP54G. At all.

2. If your WRTP54G is in the DMZ, take it out. See #1.

If that doesn't work...

While you are on the Vonage line, and the Internet is not working, try a TRACERT to www.yahoo.com and 68.142.197.83 (which is one of the IP addresses of www.yahoo.com). You should see your WRT54G IP address (192.168.1.1, usually) as the first address, then starting to go out to your ISP.

Do the same when you are NOT on your Vonage line.

IF:

- TRACERT works with Vonage, and looks same as without Vonage, then you don't appear to have a routing problem.

- TRACERT works without Vonage, does not work AT ALL with, then something is going on to completely disrupt your connection.

- TRACERT works without Vonage, works on IP address with Vonage, does not work on URL with Vonage, then something is happening to DNS.

It almost looks like the Vonage router, when enabled, is telling the WRT54G that "when I'm active, you talk ONLY to ME, capische?" That could mean that everything is being forwarded to the Vonage router, or that Vonage is chewing all the bandwidth. Now that we seem to have eliminated the bandwidth all being eaten up (which is the most common) we can look at routing setup.
