OK. This means that the setting never made it from your RTP300 to your PC. Why? I don't know. But let's go through it again (only because you don't want to have to go through the pain of setting the DNS servers manually for every client that uses the RTP300, trust me. Been there. ;) ). Some devices, like ReplayTV, can't even accept manual DNS server addresses.
1. In the RTP300 (I'm assuming firmware 1.00.60) make sure that "DNS Proxy" is set to "Disable" on the main setup screen.
2. On the same screen, set "4.2.2.6" in DNS1: and "4.2.2.5" in DNS2: (I'm using different, but working, numbers to make sure your PC is taking the new settings).
3. Save the settings (click "Save Settings") on the router.
4. Reset your PC to "Obtain DNS Automatically"
5. Go to a command line and type "IPCCONFIG /RENEW" (or go into "Network Connections" in the Control Panel and right click on your network connection and select "REPAIR", which does basically the same thing).
6. Go to a command line and type IPCONFIG /ALL (or double-click on the connection in the Network Connections list, then click the "Support" tab and the "Details" button). Verify that your DNS Servers are now 4.2.2.6 and 4.2.2.5
From there, you can keep using the 4.2.2.x addresses, or you can get your ISP's DNS servers and enter those. ISP-supplied DNS servers tend to be faster (since they are closer to you).
