Vonage OK! I've been doing a little research. There are some very favorable comments

OK! I've been doing a little research. There are some very favorable comments regarding DirecWay. Over 400 of them at:

From reading the Posts on this product, I am convinced that Vonage will work on DirecWay. However, I would like for you to run some tests if you are willing. It is one thing to say that "DirecWay has connectivity problems", it is another altogether to prove it. We cannot work with conjecture and use it as fact.

Gritslady, in your first post you made it clear that you were not as well versed in computers as you would like to be so I will try to keep the following procedure as uncomplicated as possible. You're a teacher (educator) so I know you have what it takes to make this work.

First, there are a few techniques whose procedure I would like to enter here once and then refer to it by name later.
1. "Close the browser". In the upper right hand corner, right to left, is an "X" to "Close the browser"
2. "Resize the page". shown by two squares or one large one will open the browser window to fill the entire screen, or to decrease the size to half.
3. "Minimize the page". shown by a single line will remove the current page from the screen, but keep it in memory. It is restored by clicking on the page name located on the tool bar at the bottom of the screen.
3. "Return to page". Click on the URL name located on the task bar at the bottom of the screen.

Second, "opening a new browser". First minimize the current page. The desktop should remain. Click on your favorite browser to open it onto the empty desktop.

Third, "Cut and Paste". You will be running tests. When the test is done, left-click once on the URL. It will become highlighted in blue. Then Right-click on the highlighted URL. A window opens. Left-Click on "Copy". At your destination, Right-click and the window will open again. Left-click on "Paste" and the URL will be inserted at the point of the cursor.

Are you ready? Close out all open browser windows that aren't absolutely necessary except for "Vonage Voip Forum..." of course on the computer you are going to test. Open a "Post Reply" window. Type in, "This is the result from the Speed test:" and press the "Enter key" so as to start the URL you will put there on a new line (for clarity). Then "Minimize" the forum page.

Open a new browser and enter in the address field and press the "Enter" key. Now click the link to "Tests+Tools". Then click on "Speed Tests", read the directions, downloading a new Java Applet if required. Run the speed test. I prefer the "Speakeasy" test personally. When the test is done, cut the URL as described above. "Minimize" dslreports and maximize the "Vonage Forum", "Paste" the URL to your speed test.

Type, "The following are the results of the Tweak Test:" then press the "enter" key to bring the URL to the start of a new line.

Next, "Minimize" the "Vonage Forum". "Maximize" dslreports and click on "Tweak Test". Start the test, enter the requested data, then click "Recommend". Now "cut" the URL. Shut down the dslreports browser. "Maximize" the "Vonage forum" page. "Paste" the URL onto your Post.

You're done. When we hook up again, we will discuss the results, determine if your adapter is capable of handling the bandwidth of the phone adapter. If it is, we will make the necessary adjustments to your adapter to ensure it's continued operation.

Wow! This is a lot of work, but I don't mind, really. I enjoy helping people who are serious about asking for help. There is an interesting web site that I enjoy going to when I need to learn about something. It is at:
