OK, I have tried it both ways but I wish a Vonage pro could explane to me why there is a difference. If you are running a Motorola VT1005V telephone adaptor for your Vonage service then you will get 10 digit Caller ID which I say is the proper delivery just like all US Caller ID from all the Ma Bells. Caller ID in the CLASS feature set of the North American Numbering Plan is 10 digits. But, if you are running an RT31P2 as your Vonage device then you will get a "1" in front of the standard 10 digits of the North American Numbering Plan. Why is it being delivered both ways?
