Vonage OK. Here's the deal. I connected the Linksys VoIP router they sent me directly

OK. Here's the deal. I connected the Linksys Voip router they sent me directly to my cable modem, and everything works fine. However, the WRTP54G is rather lacking in certain functions, like parental control (blocking certain web sites), and the port redirection does not work. So, I wanted to hookup my Motorola WR850G in conjunction with the LinkSys, so I could use the features from the Motorola and still have the Phone adapter. Here's how I tried connecting it (1st try). Cable modem connected to WAN interface on Motorola. LAN port from Motorola connected to LAN port on LinkSys. I have the Motorola serving up DHCP addresses, and have disabled DHCP on the Linksys. I connected my PC to the motorola, and can browse the internet. I connect my PC to the Linksys, and I can browse the internet. When I plug a phone into either Phone Port 1 or 2, I don't get a dial tone.

Then I tried hooking the Linksys up so it is connected to the cable modem, and the motorola is connected downstream. This way works (browsing and voice) but the parental filters do not work.

I have tried playing with the gateway settings in the above configuration (using the Motorola as a gateway when the Linksys is connected to the cable modem) - but that didn't work.

I was on with tech support for about 1.5 hours, and I thought I clearly described the way I had my system hooked up. The tech had me go through all of these level 1 troubleshooting configurations, and the last configuration (which I had already tried) was to connect the cable modem to the LinkSys. Since that configuration worked (without the motorola being connected), he said that Vonage only supports their equipment, and that he couldn't help me.

Since he obviously was not of the technical caliber I needed, does anyone here have any suggestions on how to connect both routers, to be able to use the features from the motorola, and be able to have the voice ports work.

• The normal way to do this would be to hook the LAN port of the Motorola to the WAN port
