1) try accessing the Vonage router page, and then try to do MAC cloning/spoofing - perhaps your internet service has a static IP address? so what we want to happen is for the gateway to think that your Vonage router is your PC (which is why we do MAC cloning) so here, you need the Vonage router page, then access it using the PC that's directly connected to it, and usually, its on the WAN configuration page wherein you can do the MAC cloning.... the MAC address to use is the MAC on your computer. You'd have to go to RUN, type in CMD (command prompt program) and then on the black window, type "ipconfig/all" - look for the physical address, and that's your PC's MAC. Put it in the Vonage router page, Save settings.... wait, and pray. ^_^
2) you mentioned that plugging in another router (your friend's) doesnt solve the "no internet issue"? Then it's not the Vonage device, i think. Try to go to one of your friend's houses, try the Vonage device there- if it works, it works. If not, then call vonage's ADV TECH.
