NTL? Sounds like you're interested in VonageUK. The thing to remember is no matter where you are globally, your Vonage servers will be based in the United States. So, if you're getting bad ping and latency to servers in the United States, it's kind of risky. The good news is that Vonage has a 30 day money back guarantee, so you really can just go for it and have nothing to lose (except return postage to Vonage should you require to leave.)

I will say though that the Caller Line Identification has been touchy on the forums here, some customers in the UK do not receive CLI at all, and apparently the Tech department is unable to pinpoint the error.

Call Diversion among other features are very useful, though. And, depending on your signup promotion, it's considerably less expensive than your BT landline probably is.

Setup is easy: You probably have a gateway that is a router/modem combination to connect to your computers. Just connect a Vonage telephone adapter to the gateway, then connect the phone (with the included Dongle) to the telephone adapter.

The only trouble or inconvenience I've heard from the UK populace is that they'll have to put the Vonage adapter into a DMZ or something with the gateway because of the built-in firewall.

Go for it! It can't hurt - just make sure you pick the promotional plan that fits your lifestyle the best... Certain packages are for Scandanavia, Europe, the United States, Canada, etc. Just keep in mind that due to Parliamentary restrictions, mobile telephone calls will be charged within the UK. However, calls to US landline and mobile are included with just about every package.
