My recent woes in reference to my callerID stamp have been solved. I called and got a competent representative on the tech support line... FINALLY! I had checked the time zone in the configurable portion of the router, I had checked the timezone on the dashboard. (Both these things in found to try in previous posts). I had unplugged the router for a couple minutes, and my cordless phone for a couple minutes, all to no avail. I called Vonage customer care, and the rep said it was because my calls were routing through a New Jersery server even though I'm in Saskatchewan.
Ok, so I thought the first reps info was utter bull (it was). I called vonage back again, and they gave the the reboot story, said they couldn't help, yada yada yada, etc, etc. On the Fifth call to tech support the rep knew almost right away.
The things that may be key: He logged in to my router and said he was setting the timezone in the "Device Properties" section of the Linksys router. This is a section we cannot get to. He said he wasn't sure why it was set wrong (to Eastern Time) when I was in Mountain at the moment. I asked if this separate from the timezone on the dashboard, and the timezone on the device that you can set yourself, and he said yes. The next part to the story is to reboot at the end, and unplug the phone line from the back. (Apparently, the phone line plugged in to hamper some important updates, as the router cannot be updated while a call is in place, and cannot be interrupted. (Is this all true?.. I don't know, this is what he said). After following the instructions, all was perfect. The Caller ID timestamp on my phone was perfectly right!!
So, if you must, ask a tech support rep to Enter your router, and change the "Device Properties" section.... if they can't.... call back until someone can. :P
